Trade Show Training

Have you ever attended a Car, Boat, Home, or any of the dozens of Trade Shows that come to the George R. Brown Convention Center or the NRG Stadium and wondered “who puts all this together and takes it down”?  The work is done by a professional craftsman, and nobody does it better than United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) members.

To meet the needs of this growing industry we offer a three-year Trade Show only apprenticeship program. If you are looking for part-time work with flexible hours and a chance to move up within the Trade Show industry than this program may be for you.

Apprentice attend one class every three months, that is 160 hours of classroom instruction a year and are available to work the rest of the year. Classes are scheduled in between Trade Shows so you are not in class when work opportunities are available. And best of all there is no cost to UBC members for the classes.

Learn how to safely work in this fast-paced environment, learn the tools of the trade, and customer service.  Classes include OSHA 10, Trade Show Installation and Dismantling, Math for the Trades, Trouble Shooting and Problem-Solving and so much more.  Classes are Monday through Thursday and provide the basic skills and training needed to be successful.  Classroom hours along with on the job training combine to give the apprentice a well rounded educational training.

Apprentice can expect great pay along with regular increases as they progress through the program. Aproxminently every six-month apprentice can expect to receive a seven and a half percent increase in pay. To receive a pay increase is as easy as attending two classes, working (and getting paid) 450 hours, and receiving a positive job site evaluation. Over the three years, an apprentice will increase the earning potential by 40%.
